NR239180 - Generic Physio & Occupational Therapy HCSW

Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) – Oncology Therapy Team

Location: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Grade: NHSW Grade D (Subject to qualification)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) looking for a new challenge in a supporting role within the Oncology Therapy Team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. This is a newly created position to work alongside the team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, providing expert care for patients undergoing prehabilitation, assessment, and treatment.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Highly motivated and adaptable to a varied workload
  • Skilled in effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Able to manage their time efficiently and work both independently and collaboratively

alkalmaz a continuous professional development (CPD), including regular supervision through in-service training opportunities. This role will contribute to a well-rounded, multidisciplinary care provision to improve patient outcomes.

Job duties may include:

  • Assisting in the delivery of prehabilitation programmes
  • Acting as a patient advocate, helping with coordination of care
  • Supporting therapy assessments and implementing agreed care plans
  • Providing administrative assistance to the therapy teams

Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must hold: ✅ A valid full UK driver’s licence (due to the nature of the role and potential service coverage requirements)

Candidates should have: ✔ Previous experience working in a therapy or caring environment (ideally in healthcare or rehabilitation settings) ✔ Prior involvement in developing or implementing structured care programmes within set policies

This post may require: 🔹 24/7 service coverage, including weekends and public holidays 🔹 Temporary support to other Therapy teams (Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy)

Interpersonal skills and adaptability are crucial, along with the ability to work well under pressure. A genuine empathy for patients and a dedicated approach to care will be key.
