Nurse Analyst – Hybrid Working | Medical Law Services (MLS)

Salary & Location

  • Salary: £35,000 per annum
  • Location: Offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, and Southport, with a hybrid working model available across England
    • Hybrid policy: 2 days in office per week, with flexibility negotiable if required
    • Core hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
    • 35-hour workweek

About the Role

Seeking an experienced registered nurse to join our growing MLS Nurse Team. If you're looking to apply your clinical expertise in a dynamic, rewarding legal environment and make a true difference beyond the bedside, this could be for you.

Purpose of the Role

Provide robust case assessments based on initial information, advising on necessary records for evaluation. Key tasks include:

  • Reviewing medical records and supporting documentation
  • Paginating and chronological ordering of records
  • Formulating Opinions of Merit (OOMs)
  • Analysing medical evidence for breach of duty and causation
  • Assisting with Medical Law compliance (including GDPR awareness)
  • Developing progression into Risk Assessments 1 (experience-led growth)

This position demands attention to detail, analytical ID, and strong communication—ideal for nurses looking to further specialise in a clinical-legal field.

Main Responsibilities

  • Medical Records Handling:
    • Accurate review of medical evidence for clinical negligence/casework
    • Sorting, categorising, and toxic-free make-up of complex case dossiers
  • Legal Support
    • Authoring Opinion of Merit (OOMs) and internal chronologies
    • Preparing detailed paginated summaries (traditional or AI-supported)
  • Compliance & Legal Awareness
    • Flagging GDPR compliance issues within records
    • Staying informed on evolving legal guidelines and medico-legal standards
  • Analysis & Progression
    • Development into Risk Assessments based on growing experience

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience as a registered nurse (NHS or clinical setting)
    • Solid grounding in medical records and audit experience helped
  • Analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong written communicating skills (for OOM production and legal documentation)
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and professional guidelines
  • Adaptability to multi-location, hybrid work, clear teamwork and remote collaboration
  • Proven organisation and prioritisation under high-pressure deadlines

Desirable Traits

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Adobe Suite / basic understanding of specialist software
