Nurse Associate – Community Mental Health Team (Dorset)
About the Role
An exciting new opportunity within the Blandford Community Mental Health Team for a registered Nurse Associate to join their established multidisciplinary team (MDT). You’ll deliver excellent holistic care to residents across the Dorset area as part of an integrated health and social care team, supporting patients experiencing mental health difficulties during their care and recovery journey.
The role will involve clinical, therapeutic, and social interventions to promote health, well-being, self-autonomy, and independence. The post holder will provide nursing and care across the lifespan, delivering person-centred and evidence-based interventions while working independently—under the guidance of registered nurses—and supporting less experienced staff and learners.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver planned care to a defined group of patients, adhering to:
- Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards of Proficiency
- Trust policies and protocols
- Client-centred and evidence-based principles

Collaborate through holistic and person-centred approaches, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for service users/patients.

Work independently within the nursing process, including:
- Undertaking delegated clinical tasks as required.
- Managing a defined caseload under indirect supervision of a registered nurse.

Support, guide, and supervise junior staff (e.g., band 2/3 staff, learners):
- Delegating appropriate duties.
- Conducting ongoing performance supervision.
- Delivering training and mentoring opportunities.

Maintain professional standards by:
- Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and clinical protocols.
- Ensuring high-quality, person-centred care in line with NMC regulations.
Requirements
- Qualification: Registered Nurse Associate (with endorsement to practise).
- Security Clearance: Mustpass an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (trust will cover costs). Registration with the DBS Update Service is also acceptable.
- Experience in mental health nursing, community care, or allied fields is advantageous.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team-based framework.
- Comfortable delineating tasks to support workers and learners, and evaluating outcomes effectively.
