Nurse Associate Gynaecology Outpatients

Job Overview

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN INTERNAL ROLE FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE RUH ONLY

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 4 Nursing Associate within Gynaecology Outpatients. The post holder will have successfully completed the Trainee Nursing Associate course over a period of two years, and includes obtaining a level 5 foundation degree equivalent qualification and registration on the NMC register.

The Nursing Associate will have gained the knowledge, understanding and skills required to become proficient to practice as a Nursing Associate and will work within the recognised Code of Conduct.

The post holder will have had experience within Gynaecology and be able to work with a range of Gynaecology professionals within the Outpatient department. The Nursing Associate will assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs while under supervision of the registered nurse.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve caring for gynaecology patients within the outpatient treatment unit setting. The post holder will work in a wide range of clinics covering various gynaecological conditions including early pregnancy, uro-gynaecology, gynae-oncology, endometriosis, colposcopy, hysteroscopy as well as general gynaecology.

This can include assisting in treatment clinics with band 5 nurses, assisting in minor operating procedures and supporting the doctors, consultants and nurse practitioners in their clinics. The role includes caring for women pre and post theatre following miscarriage and termination of pregnancy, coordinating the gynaecology emergency clinic and requesting specific radiology investigations (ultrasound), coordinating the busy joint oncology clinic and caring for patients in recovery following minor procedures in clinics.

The post holder will also gain skills assisting consultants in Urodynamics clinics.
