Who can apply
This role is open to experienced Registered Mental Health, Learning Disability or Adult Nurses who:
- Have a Master’s-level education in a related subject
- Possess extensive experience in mental health and specialist clinical services
- Display expert knowledge of multidisciplinary working and evidence-based practice
- Demonstrate strong leadership, teaching, and service development skills
- Have experience in advanced clinical decision-making and risk management

Experience within eating disorders or complex mental health services is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
As the Nurse Consultant for Sussex Adults Eating Disorder Service (SEDS), you will provide strategic nursing leadership while maintaining an advanced clinical role supporting adults with complex eating disorders. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading nursing practice across the specialist eating disorder service
- Shaping and implementing innovative care pathways
- Providing expert clinical leadership and consultancy
- Holding a specialist caseload requiring advanced intervention
- Leading physical health monitoring and risk management training
- Co-developing clinical policies and protocols alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist
- Supporting governance, quality improvement, and service development
- Coaching, supervising, and mentoring nursing colleagues across the service
This is an opportunity to influence practice at both the individual patient and whole-service level.
About the Service
The Sussex Adults Eating Disorder Service (SEDS) provides specialist community treatment for adults diagnosed with:
- Anorexia Nervosa
- Atypical Anorexia
- Bulimia Nervosa
- Binge Eating Disorder

- Liaison psychiatry
- Community mental health teams
- Wider healthcare partners
Location
Based at East Brighton Mental Health Centre with spoke sites across Sussex, supporting place-based care.
Regular travel across the county forms a core part of this role.
