Ready for a Change from Shift Work?
Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Mental Health Nurse looking for a new career direction without stepping away from healthcare?
Perhaps you're ready for a break from long shifts, nights and weekend working, but still want to use your clinical knowledge, nursing experience and assessment skills to make a genuine difference to people's lives.
A career as a Nurse Functional Assessor could be the opportunity you've been looking for. We have exciting opportunities available in Cardiff, offering full-time, part-time, and hybrid.
What Is a Functional Assessor?
As a Nurse Functional Assessor, you'll use your existing clinical skills in a completely different way. You'll carry out holistic assessments to understand how an individual's health condition or disability affects their day-to-day life and functional ability.
Following each assessment, you'll produce a clear, factual and evidence-based report to support the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) with benefit eligibility decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
