Job Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Nurse Practitioner to join the Paediatric Pre-assessment team within the Royal Hospital for Children.

Shift Pattern

The shift pattern for this post is Monday-Friday with scope for evening and weekend rotation.

Role Description

We are an outpatient, nurse-led, service that carries out a nursing and medical assessment of children and young people (CYP) requiring a procedure under general anaesthetic. We work collaboratively with input and support from a dedicated team of anaesthetists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take patient history and perform a physical examination of the CYP.
  • Prepare them and their family/carers for their procedure.
  • Refer any anaesthetic, medical or psychological issues to the appropriate discipline.
  • Prioritise your workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in audits and contribute to the planning, development and delivery of the service.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Sound clinical skills for the assessment of patient needs.

Additional Requirements

If the successful candidate does not hold a recognised clinical assessment qualification then they will be required to obtain this and the Annex 21 policy will apply.
