The Role

You must have an active NMC UK PIN for consideration.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within NHSGGC are recruiting a motivated Band 6 Nurse to join their specialist community team at the Acorn Centre, Vale of Leven Hospital.

About the Role

This position is central to a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality care for children, young people, and their families in West Dunbartonshire, focusing on complex mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.

You will:

  • Lead on holistic assessments, risk management and collaborative planning for care delivery.
  • Provide psychological and therapeutic interventions in both individual and group settings.
  • Support system-wide care within an ‘all-agency’ environment.
  • Supervise junior clinical staff and contribute to service development.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • One full-time (36 hours) and two part-time roles (25.2 hours).
  • Location: Vale of Leven Hospital, Acorn Centre
  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday
  • Pay: Pro-rata for part-time hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct holistic and risk-based assessments, formulating person-centred care plans for young people with needs/issues related to:
    • Mental health
    • Developmental and behavioural complexities
  • Serve as the Named Nurse and Care Coordinator for a defined caseload.
  • Implement evidence-based psychological interventions in one-to-one and group programs.
  • Engage in systemic care coordination, collaborating with:
    • Families and carers
    • Education teams
    • Partner agencies
  • Administer and monitor prescribed treatments, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and performance support to:
    • Band 5
    • Healthcare Support Workers
    • Students
  • Contribute to clinical governance and service improvement.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Register as a BMHN (UKF), RMN, or RNLD with the NMC.
  • Degree level or above education.
  • Credible evidence of ongoing Professional Development.
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health and multidisciplinary settings.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Risk management
    • Mental health law
    • Emotional wellbeing dynamics
  • Excellent competency in:
    • Communication
    • Organisational skill
    • Strategic decision-making
  • Ability to work autonomously, collaboratively in teams.
  • Proven experience engaging with:
    • Children
    • Young people
    • Families
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in supervision and mentorship.
