Modern Apprentice – Early Years
Role Overview
Are you looking to start a career in Early Years, return to work, or make a meaningful career change?
At Toad Hall Nursery, we welcome applicants aged 17 and over, who are passionate about supporting children’s learning and development.
We are recruiting enthusiastic Modern Apprentices to train alongside our experienced childcare professionals while working towards a Level 3 qualification in Early Years.

Training & Structure
- Work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- 20% of your time (8 hours/week) dedicated to off-the-job learning
- Supported study, including assessments and guidance from your training provider and nursery team
- Full support provided regardless of prior study experiences

Career Progression
Upon completion, qualified apprentices can apply for Nursery Nurse roles within Toad Hall Nursery, with opportunities for long-term career growth. Many former apprentices continue to progress and advance within the Early Years sector.

Key Expectations
Responsibilities
- Supporting children with daily routines (meals, playtime, naps, personal care)
- Adherence to nursery policies, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety guidelines
- Demonstrating interest in child development and learning
- Showing passion for the Early Years sector

Before starting, applicants must complete:
- Two satisfactory references
- An Enhanced DBS check
