Nursery Assistant – Balham

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Location: Balham, London

Eligibility:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to join our Balham team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with children and eager to begin or grow their career in early years education. You’ll be part of a supportive nursery environment where children are encouraged to learn, play, and thrive every day.

About the Role

As an Nursery Assistant, you’ll support the nursery team in providing safe, nurturing, and engaging childcare. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development
  • Supervising children during play and ensuring their safety at all times
  • Encouraging children’s language development and self-expression
  • Supporting lead practitioners in maintaining a clean, organised, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Assisting with record-keeping and progress reporting
  • Taking part in training and professional development opportunities

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about childcare and willing to learn.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience working with children in a nursery, school, or childcare setting (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written
  • Creativity and enthusiasm when engaging with children
  • A valid driving licence (preferred, for occasional outings)
  • A positive, caring, and proactive attitude
