Nursery Assistant
Nursery Assistant – Leatherhead
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum (competitive, based on experience) Contract: Full-time, permanent Location: Leatherhead, Surrey
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to join our team in Leatherhead. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with children and eager to begin or grow their career in early years education. You’ll be part of a supportive nursery environment where children are encouraged to learn, play, and thrive every day.
About the Role
As a Nursery Assistant, you’ll support the nursery team in providing safe, nurturing, and engaging childcare. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the planning and delivery of activities that promote:
- Physical development
- Emotional well-being
- Social skills
- Supervising children during play and ensuring their safety at all times
- Encouraging language development and self-expression
- Supporting lead practitioners in maintaining:
- A clean, organised, and stimulating classroom environment
- Building positive relationships with:
- Children
- Parents
- Colleagues
- Assisting with:
- Record-keeping
- Progress reporting
- Participation in:
- Training
- Professional development opportunities

Requirements
We welcome applications from individuals passionate about childcare and willing to learn.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience working with children in a nursery, school, or childcare setting (desirable but not essential)
- Strong communication skills (spoken and written) in English
- Creativity and enthusiasm when engaging with children
- A valid driving licence (for occasional outings)
- A positive, caring, and proactive attitude, with commitment to fostering a nurturing environment
