Early Years Assistant – Elan Day Nursery, Haywards Heath

About the Role

Part of Grandir UK, our Elan Day Nursery in Haywards Heath is seeking a warm, caring, and passionate Early Years Assistant to join our dynamic team of childcare professionals. This role offers the chance to support young children’s growth while contributing to a nurturing ecosystem where learning, play, and community thrives.

About Elan Day Nursery

Elan Day Nursery specialises in exceptional care for children aged 3 months to 3 years. Our nurturing environment includes:

  • Dedicated, safe, and developmental rooms for each age group
  • A secure, enclosed garden for outdoor play and exploration
  • Indoor studio space with climate-controlled environments ideal for movement and creative play
  • Activities such as climbing frames, sand pits, gardening, music, yoga, and cooking
  • Outdoor and indoor play opportunities year-round
  • Field trips, library visits, and local outings extended children’s curiosity and social experience
  • Activities designed to boost creativity, independence, and social skills through thoughtful play

The nursery sits behind Haywards Heath train station, with access to Snap Fryth Memorial Park nearby, making us ideally positioned for easy transportation. Our modern, naturally lit facilities create a restful base for our small, quality-focused team.


Key Responsibilities

As an Early Years Assistant, you would:

  • Provide constant, attentive supervision of children under the oversight of Level 3 practitioners.
  • Lead and assist in age-appropriate activities, stimuli, and play sessions under expert guidance.
  • Support children in motor skill development, social bonding, and emotional understanding.
  • Maintain safety standards in every area, including hygienic play environments.
  • Work closely with parents to reinforce positive experiences and report on child progress.
  • Collaborate with senior team members at staff meetings, planning sessions, and training workshops.
  • Ensure compliance with Grandir UK’s safeguarding policies, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and health and safety regulations.
  • Uphold the nursery’s child-friendly culture by fostering warmth, patience, and resilience in all interactions.

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

  • A warm, patient, and child-safe professional with a love of nurturing children through play.
  • Basic qualifications or level 3 Early Years qualifications strongly preferred but not essential if you have practical experience.
  • Strong attention to safety, hygiene, and safeguarding protocols.
  • Excellent team player with a lighthearted yet focused attitude.
  • Time flexibility and adherence to term times and nursery evening hours.
