Company Description

Honeybear Nursery Ltd is a private nursery and preschool catering for children from 6 months to 5 years. The nursery focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children and families.

Role

Nursery Cook

  • 30 hrs per week
  • Mon - Fri
  • 8am - 2:30pm

Role Description

The Nursery Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children attending the nursery. This part-time, on-site role is based in Gatley and involves planning menus, ordering and managing food supplies, and preparing meals in line with dietary requirements and allergy guidelines. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations, and coordinating meal times with nursery staff to ensure smooth service. The Nursery Cook may also contribute to menu planning that promotes healthy eating habits and support special events or activities requiring catering.

Qualifications

  • Experience in cooking for groups, preferably in a childcare, school, or care setting.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and allergy and dietary requirement management.
  • Ability to plan balanced, age-appropriate menus and manage stock and food ordering efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in meal preparation and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with nursery staff.
  • Relevant food hygiene and safety certifications (or willingness to obtain them).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with willingness to undergo background checks as required.
