Job Introduction

Role: Kitchen and Domestic Assistant.

Location: Childbase Partnership Head Office | Newport Pagnell | MK16 8NJ.

Contract: Permanent | 30 hours/week | 52 weeks/year.

Working pattern: Monday-Friday between 08:30-15:00.

Salary: £25,096.50 per annum (pro-rata) | £12.87 per hour.

About The Role

  • You will support the smooth running of the Head Office kitchen: Assisting the Head Office Chef with food preparation, meal service and catering for Head Office colleagues, colleagues visiting from nurseries, meetings, training days, events and ad-hoc requirements.
  • You will help maintain high kitchen standards: Keeping crockery, cutlery, utensils, equipment, surfaces, floors, cupboards, drawers, storage areas, cookers, dishwashers, refrigeration units and probes clean, safe and ready to use.
  • You will follow food safety procedures: Supporting stock rotation, correct food storage and dating, allergen and dietary processes, food hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, Health and Safety requirements and company procedures.
  • You will be trusted to step in when needed: Supporting the kitchen in the Chef’s absence, including accepting deliveries, preparing and serving meals, placing food supply orders where required and completing all relevant checks and paperwork within agreed timescales.
  • You will keep communal spaces welcoming: Ensuring coffee areas are clean, stocked and well presented, coffee machines are maintained, tables are wiped down after lunch service, plants are watered as required and spills or ad-hoc cleaning needs are dealt with promptly.

About You

  • You are practical, organised and proactive: You take pride in keeping spaces clean, tidy, stocked and safe, and you can manage varied tasks throughout the day.
  • You are confident supporting food preparation and service: You are comfortable working in a kitchen environment and willing to prepare and serve food when the Chef is absent, with training and guidance in place.
  • You work well as part of a team: You communicate professionally, support colleagues, and provide a helpful, welcoming service to everyone using or visiting Head Office.
  • You are safety conscious: You understand the importance of following food hygiene, allergen, dietary, Health and Safety, COSHH and risk assessment procedures, asking questions whenever you are unsure.
  • You are committed to learning: You will keep your knowledge up to date through company and local training opportunities and show a commitment to continual professional development.
