Nursery Manager

Nursery Manager – Chalk Nursery Group (Moon River Nursery)

Since joining Chalk Nursery Group in April 2026, Moon River Nursery enters a new phase, gaining access to a wider network of high-quality early years settings—including Katey’s House and Red Bus—across London and Bristol. This collaborative environment fosters shared expertise and a commitment to continuous improvement and best practice.


About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and inspirational Nursery Manager to lead Moon River Nursery. In this critical role, you will embody the warmth and leadership that define our setting while driving excellence in early years education.

As Senior Leader, your key responsibilities include:

  • Operational oversight: Ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, full compliance with regulatory standards, and a positive childcare environment.
  • Team leadership: Managing performance, talent development, and recruitment while fostering a collaborative, safeguarding-aware culture.
    • Role: Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Curriculum and learning: Aligning curriculum development with the EYFS framework and promoting high-quality play-based learning.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEN) & Behaviour: Acting as SENCO, partnering with families on behaviour management strategies.
  • Community engagement:
    • Building warm, trust-based relationships with parents, children, and stakeholders.
    • Increasing enrolments through advocacy, open days, and local outreach.
  • Health, safety, and compliance: Valuing risk assessment, policy reviews, and key worker training.
  • Ofsted excellence: Maintaining the highest standards in safeguarding, health & safety, and early-years provision.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this leadership position, we seek candidates with:

  • A minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 5 or above is preferred).
  • Proven managerial experience within early years settings, ideally covering at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding policies, and Ofsted frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication skills, ability for people management, and strong organisation.
  • A warm, proactive, and resilient mindset, coupled with a passion for child development.
    • Training requirements (or willingness to undertake):
      • SENCO qualification.
      • Paediatric First Aid.
      • Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
