Nursery Manager

Nursery Manager – Bright Horizons Norfolk Lodge Montessori Day Nursery & Preschool

Salary: £50,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Location: Barnet, North London (accessible by car only)

Working pattern: 51 weeks per year


About the Role

Bright Horizons Norfolk Lodge is a welcoming nursery offering exceptional care and Montessori-inspired early education for children aged 6 months to 5 years. Located in a beautiful character building with onsite parking, the nursery features:

  • Nine bright, age-specific classrooms
  • A holistic curriculum blending Montessori principles with the EYFS framework
  • A stunning two-acre outdoor space, including:
    • A forest school area
    • Soft-surfaced play courts
    • Engaging equipment for exploration and discovery

As Nursery Manager, you will lead a team to deliver outstanding care and education, ensuring:

  • Inspirational leadership for employee engagement, retention, and performance
  • Day-to-day running of the nursery, including safeguarding responsibilities
  • Recruitment, training, and development of high-performing colleagues
  • Commercial growth strategies for FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) expansion
  • Optimisation of nursery performance, revenue generation, and cost efficiency

Your Responsibilities

  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies
  • Work in partnership with office teams to improve recruitment and team development
  • Implement commercial plans aligned with FTE growth and staff ratio requirements
  • Ensure high-quality pedagogy, innovation, and service excellence
  • Develop trust and partnerships with parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, regulatory compliance, and team performance

Key Requirements

  • Full and relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification
  • Experience in an Early Years leadership role (e.g., Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, or Assistant Manager)
  • Proven track record of leading a regulatory inspection resulting in a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ outcome
  • Experience developing high-performing teams with strong regulatory compliance and quality improvement
  • Confident decision-maker with commercial and service excellence understanding
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge, including Child Protection and legislative requirements
  • Strong ability to build trust, foster partnerships, and manage complex relationships
