Core Responsibilities

As the Nursery Manager, your role will include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery and drive operational excellence to ensure outstanding care and education.
  • Safeguarding & Compliance: Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining rigorous compliance with legislative requirements for child protection, safeguarding, and early years standards.
  • Team Development: Build a high-performance team through recruitment, continuous training, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Governance & Finance: Support the commercial strategy, optimise FTE (full-time equivalent) growth, and ensure cost efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Curriculum & Quality Enhancement: Champion the Bright Beginnings Curriculum, driving innovation in pedagogy and service excellence.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with parents/carers and support teams to strengthen engagement and transparency through the Bright Horizons Family app.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 3 or above Early Years qualification, ideally Nursery Manager or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a leader in an early years environment, such as a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, or Assistant Manager.
  • Experience in participating in regulatory inspections (Ofsted, equivalent) successfully achieving an Outstanding or Good rating.
  • Strong reputation for developing high-performing teams with a focus on quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and service excellence.
  • Excellent decision-making skills, with an ability to navigate complex commercial and compliance challenges.
  • Expertise in safeguarding, child protection policies, and legislative compliance relevant to early years settings.
  • Skill in building trust and maintaining strong relationships with parents/carers, employees, and external partners.
