Community Nursery Nurse Vacancy
A vacancy for Community Nursery Nurse has arisen in Thurrock, Essex.

- BTECH/NVQ Level 3 in Child Care or Degree in Early Years or above
- Evidence of working with children and young people
- Willing to undertake further training as required

Job Overview
The post holder will achieve this by assisting the Integrated Universal and Early Intervention Teams in the delivery of their clinical duties through the provision of clinical support to ensure that systems are in place and maintained to enable smooth processes for service delivery. This will involve carrying out health reviews, dealing with general queries from the public, either face to face or over the phone.
The 0-19 Community Nursery Nurse will support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme within a progressive universal model of service delivery dependant on assessed needs. Ensuring the programme is delivered in partnership with other statutory and non-statutory agencies. This role will play a key part in the development and safe delivery of 0-19 services, utilizing best available evidence to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people especially those from disadvantaged groups.
The Community Nursery Nurse will work co-operatively as a member of the 0-19 team, under the supervision and instruction of the 0-19 Practitioner, to assist with clinical support to the Team in promoting the health and wellbeing of families and children under the age of 0-19 years of age.
The post-holder will assist the Team to provide support and advice to children, carers, and parents to improve health and inclusion, and to tackle inequality of health care taking into consideration levels of deprivation and ethnic diversity within the caseload locality.
The post holder will assist the 0-19 Practitioner in the delivery of clinical activity in Clinics, Children’s Centres, School drop-ins, homes, schools, and other identified venues in line with the local service commission. The post holder will support the provision of screening, such as weight, height measurement, vision*, hearing* (*School aged children), immunisation promotion, Health Promotion, working at a Universal and low grade Universal plus, and under the delegation and accountability of the 0-19 Practitioner caseload holder.

The post holder will consistently deliver a “client-focused” service which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.
The post holder will have an awareness of child protection issues and report concerns to the 0-19 Practitioner.
Key Responsibilities
- To work as a member of the 0-19 Service seeking advice and guidance from the 0-19 Practitioner where required.
- To assist the Team to identify health needs of children and their families within the 0-19 caseload/patch/schools.
- To plan and organise workload with under the delegation of a 0-19 Practitioner and in line with NELFT’s service operating procedures and competency frameworks.
- Under the delegation of the allocating 0-19 Practitioner, provide advice, support, and interventions to all families with children.
- Under the delegation of the allocating 0-19 Practitioner, highlight any observed/reported identify the needs of individual children, parents, and families (including safeguarding needs), and where appropriate refer or direct them to existing local services, thereby promoting early intervention.
- To operate within Children & Young People Services Child Safeguarding Policies, Standards, and Procedures, recognizing and taking appropriate action in relation to children where there is suspicion of abuse.
- To have clinical and safeguarding supervision as per policy for Safeguarding children.
- To implement individual and group Universal plus programmes of care for families, children, and carers identified within National and Local Agendas and Priorities.
- To work with team colleagues in the induction of new team members.
- To provide developmental screening of children as requested by concerned carers/parents and professionals in liaison with the 0-19 PRACTITIONER.
- To record accurately in the Child's Record and other professional records as per Trust policies ensuring that these are kept up to date.
- To participate in Child Health Clinics and Drop-in Clinics within Schools (Primary).
- To participate in Team health promotion and health education activities as required.
- To act in accordance with Trust policy and guidelines regarding Child Protection as set out in Trust Policies and Local Safeguarding Procedures and local Identification and Tracking procedures including escalation of concerns identified.
- To participate in health led services as directed by the 0-19 Practitioner in accordance with Trust guidelines/procedures/policies/protocols.
- To carry out home visits/School contacts as appropriate and directed by the 0-19 Practitioner.
- To be aware of Trust policies / protocols / guidelines.
- Cover other teams/services, where necessary, which may require working on other sites.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time) for Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering, and Waltham Forest, CEME).
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,303 to a maximum of £2,198 p.a. pro rata for part time) for Fringe (Basildon, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow, and Dartford only).
