We are Tommies Childcare. Since 1998, we have provided exciting and memorable early years experiences for children aged 0 – 5 years.When you work at Tommies, you’ll be doing one of the most important jobs in the world: nurturing, protecting and helping children grow into well-balanced, happy and self-assured adults. Practitioners and educators at Tommies understand the value of following the child’s lead and placing their own interests at the heart of everything they do.
You’ll be supporting children’s learning “in the moment”, which means you’ll need to think on your feet and create activities that meet the requirements of the EYFS based on what you know the children enjoy doing.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Room Leader to oversee the daily operations of our nursery environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating atmosphere for young children, ensuring high standards of childcare and early childhood education are maintained. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with management experience and a passion for child development to lead a team and make a positive impact on children's early learning experiences.

Duties Lead and supervise the nursery team to deliver high-quality childcare and educational activities. Plan, organise, and implement age-appropriate programmes that promote developmental milestones. Ensure the safety and well-being of all children within the nursery environment. Maintain effective communication with parents, providing updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns. Oversee daily routines, including meal times, play sessions, and rest periods. Monitor staff performance, provide guidance, and support professional development initiatives. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, attendance logs, and activity planning.
Experience Proven management or leadership experience within a childcare setting or nursery environment. Extensive experience working directly with children in early childhood settings. Strong background in childcare practices, early childhood education, or nursery experience. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Ability to motivate and lead a team effectively while maintaining a positive working environment. This role is ideal for an organised professional who is passionate about early childhood development and possesses strong leadership qualities to inspire their team whilst ensuring the best outcomes for children in their care.
