The Special Needs Nursing Service (SNNS)
The Special Needs Nursing Service (SNNS) supports children and young people with complex health needs in specialist schools and community settings, working with families, schools and healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care.
Job Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated and enthusiastic Band 2 Nursing Assistant to join our term-time-only team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in children's nursing while making a positive difference to children, young people and their families.
This development post offers a structured pathway from Band 2 to Band 3. The successful applicant will complete the Trust's Clinical Support Worker Development Programme and, on successful completion of the required competencies, will progress to Band 3 Agenda for Change (AfC).
Role Overview
The Special Needs Nursing Service (SNNS) provides care and support to children and young people with complex healthcare needs in specialist schools and community settings across Manchester.
Responsibilities
- Supporting children and young people's health, wellbeing and care needs
- Working alongside registered nurses and the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, person-centred care
- Undertaking delegated clinical and non-clinical tasks within your competence
- Maintaining accurate electronic records
- Communicating effectively with families, carers, schools and healthcare professionals
- Contributing to safeguarding by recognising and reporting concerns

Requirements
- Working independently when appropriate, seeking guidance when required
- Participating in training, supervision and team meetings
- Demonstrating flexibility to meet service needs across different settings
- Promoting a positive experience for children and families while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality and the Trust's values
Qualifications
- Motivated, compassionate and adaptable
- Able to travel across Manchester
- Hold a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for work
