Nursing Manager - Outpatients

Nursing Manager - OPD | Outpatients | Private Hospital – Permanent, Full-Time Band 7 Equivalent • Reading


About the Role

Spire Dunedin Hospital is seeking an experienced Outpatients Manager to lead our outpatient service.

The Outpatients Manager will:

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality and efficient outpatient services.
  • Drive key quality, performance, financial plans, and service enhancements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the provision of outpatients.
  • Manage operational delivery of outpatient services against Spire’s key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring efficient departmental running.
  • Handle patient information in compliance with the Data Protection Act and Spire policies.
  • Develop knowledge and skills while contributing to team development.
  • Promote best practice in health & safety and equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Apply technology best practices in service delivery.
  • Seek and employ innovative methods to improve service using five CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE), aiming for ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ ratings.
  • Adhere to healthcare standards, manage governance and risk.
  • Ensure efficient stock management, budget compliance, and collaboration with the Finance Director.
  • Conduct departmental audits/reviews, implement action plans, and report findings.
  • Provide clinical leadership in developing new services.
  • Maintain close partnerships with external organisations for best practice sharing.
  • Embed Clinical Governance and risk management in daily operations.
  • Undertake HR activities for the team.
  • Undertake any other duties relevant to the role.

We’re Looking For

Essential requirements:

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in healthcare/nursing or equivalent.
  • NMC Registration.
  • Senior-level experience in outpatients, unsupervised roles, and team leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams with a focus on patient experience.
  • Strong clinical management & leadership skills, including performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
  • Competence in auditing clinical standards & departments.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement initiatives.

Hours

37.5 hrs per week (typically 8am–8pm weekdays, 8am–6pm Saturdays, as required to meet operational demands).
