Job Overview

Position:
Health Care Support Worker, Band 3 (Nursing Support Worker) – Adult Mental Health Ward (St Caradog Ward), Haverfordwest
About the Role
Provides high-quality, acute inpatient mental health care to local residents. The role demands leadership and resilience in handling clinical, managerial, and professional demands.
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the Nursing Support Worker assists with direct patient care, including:
- Compensatory nursing care
- Observation and engagement
- Physical health monitoring
- Psychosocial interventions (within wards and home environments)
- Patient recovery pathway support, including communication and relationship modelling
This role emphasises flexibility, reliability, and responsiveness, extending to 24/7 coverage, including nights.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient care: Assist in providing compassionate care under direct supervision of Registered Nurses.
- Multi-disciplinary collaboration: Work alongside doctors, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Safety & wellbeing: Maintain patient contact, ensure safety and dignity, and respect privacy and confidentiality.
- Documentation & reporting: Log all incidents, complaints, or emergencies—comply with Mental Health Act requirements.
- Emergency response: Assist in rapid, compliant action to emergencies under supervision.

Requirements & Additional Information

- Experience working in an adult acute inpatient setting.
- Dynamic, innovative practice.
- Ability to work independently within a broader team structure).
- Willingness to operate in shift/24/7 manner.
