Nutrition Care Associate - Retail
Patient Nutrition & Food Services Specialist
Assists in all aspects of patient meal preparation, service, and guest support under the guidance of kitchen and dining leadership.
About the Role
This full-time (40-hour) position rotates across multiple cuisine-related duties—patient meal tray assembly and delivery, cashier, food assembly, food serving, and housekeeping—to ensure seamless operations at St. Marys Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, CO.
Work schedule includes:
- Day shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Weekdays with possible weekend/holiday obligation during caregiver staffing shortages
- No night or graveyard shifts
Cross-training in barista and cashier roles fosters adaptability and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities

Meal Service & Delivery
- Ensures trays are delivered to patients via hospital protocols
- Preserves heat/refrigeration for meal integrity during transit

Food Preparation & Assembly
- Follows standardized recipes & safety guidelines to prepare:
- Salads
- Sandwiches
- Vegetable prep
- Fruit stations
- Maintains nutrition standards (including modified diets, e.g., diabetic, vegan options)

Cashier & Guest Services
- Processes transactions accurately (cash/credit)
- Resolves basic customer inquiries in line with Compassion Standards

Housekeeping & Maintenance
- Cleans equipment: ovens, fryers, hoods, and preparation surfaces
- Sanitizes facility environments to hospitality-grade standards
- Puts up/down tables/chairs for dining prep

Requirements
Required by Employment:
- Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification (states of Utah & Idaho only; employer may cover cost)
Preferred (Signifies Strong Fit):
- Experience with diabetic, low-sodium, or ALLERGEN-AWARE prep
- Trained in hostile≠guest scenario de-escalation
- Conflict-free //$free인민머니ေါ်ဆဘ cs experience
Pay & Schedule
- Hourly Range: $17.68 – $22.99, adjusted by experience
- Location: Grand Junction, CO
- Pureton Service Hours: 40
