The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit
A collaborative multi-agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region.
About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Detective Sergeant to join the Northwest ROCT and target Serious and Organised Criminals through developing intelligence and investigating proactive developments through the 4P’s plan model.
As a member of the team, you will be supervising the team involved in the development of covert operations/intelligence tasked with disrupting and dismantling organised crime groups who are causing the most harm within the region’s communities. Utilising a range of overt and covert tactics, you will be expected to be flexible in your role, be prepared to deploy the team operationally in a covert & proactive role, build developmental cases through intelligence development, build evidential cases through proactive policing, prepare files, and perform disclosure duties to support the court process.
The Objective of the ROCT
To disrupt and dismantle those causing the most harm within our communities by utilising a variety of overt and covert tactics and adapting a single system approach with partner agencies.
The Applicant Must:
- Be PIP 2 (ICIDP) accredited and be able to evidence a track record working in complex investigations
- Have a current Q1 surveillance accreditation.
Definition of Permitted Surveillance Accreditation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
