North West Regional Organised Crime Unit – TEI Deployment Specialist Role
The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU) is a collaborative multi-agency covert response team tackling serious and organised crime across Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, and North Wales.
About the Role
The TEI (Technical Expertise Initiative) Deployment Specialist will deploy, test, research, and develop covert technical solutions to support police operations.
This role is ideal for those with:

The NWROCU leads the policing response to serious and organised crime in the North West, acting as a bridge between national expertise and local knowledge to implement the Government’s serious and organised crime strategy.
This secondment role is initially for two years, subject to continuous funding and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy covert technical capabilities to support policing investigations
- Research and evaluate emerging technical assets
- Work within multi-disciplinary teams to enhance investigation techniques
- Maintain operational security and confidentiality protocols
- Provide specialist advice on technological solutions for law enforcement needs

Requirements

Officer Safety/First Aid Training:
- Must hold current, valid training
- Alternatively, be prepared to undertake this upon appointment

Security Vetting:
- Successful applicants will undergo Management Vetting (MV) and Security Clearance (SC) before commencement

Support Requirements:
- Applications must be endorsed by the applicant’s home policing force
- Applicants must complete and upload the NWROCU Secondment Support Form before proceeding
Remuneration & Conditions
- Salary Range: £40,383–£47,046 per annum (Grade F, Merseyside HAY scale)
- Hours: Full-time flexitime, with flexibility required on working patterns
- Travel Costs: If commuting exceeds the current commute distance, the difference in travel costs will be reimbursed.
