Hays are now looking for an SC Cleared OAT Quality Engineer for one of our local clients:

£398 p/d Inside IR35 Remote 6 month+ contract Must currently hold SC Clearance

We are looking for an experienced Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) Quality Engineer to support the delivery of critical services and applications into live production environments. The role focuses on validating operational readiness, resilience, disaster recovery and service supportability across cloud-hosted solutions, working closely with development, infrastructure and service management teams.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and execute Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) activities across applications and services.
  • Validate operational readiness prior to production releases and deployments.
  • Assess availability, resilience, disaster recovery and service recoverability capabilities.
  • Test operational processes and procedures, including incident, problem and change management readiness.
  • Verify backup, restore, deployment, patching and infrastructure connectivity processes.
  • Evaluate application and infrastructure monitoring, alerting and observability solutions.
  • Analyse system logs, monitoring outputs and performance data to identify operational risks.
  • Support release activities and ensure operational acceptance criteria are met.
  • Work with development, infrastructure and operations teams to resolve supportability and service risks.
  • Contribute to the testing of AWS-hosted applications and cloud-based services.

What We're Looking For

  • Current SC Clearance
  • Proven experience delivering Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) within enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience testing availability, resilience and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Experience validating operational processes, procedures and service management practices.
  • Knowledge of backup and restore, deployment, patching, infrastructure connectivity and server testing.
  • Experience testing cloud-hosted applications, ideally within AWS environments.
  • Strong understanding of operational readiness, service transition and production supportability.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability and log analysis tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, New Relic or ELK.
  • Background working within IT Operations, Service Management or mission-critical production environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Exposure to Chaos Engineering and/or DevOps practices would be highly advantageous.
