Interventions Facilitator – HMP Ashfield

Location: HMP Ashfield, Pucklechurch, Bristol (BS16 9QJ) Contract: Full-Time (37 hours per week), Permanent Salary: £28,410 per annum (plus benefits) Hours: • Monday to Thursday: 08.00 – 16.00 • Friday: 08.00 – 15.30

About the Role

At HMP Ashfield, we believed in safe, supportive, and rehabilitative environments. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by supporting individuals in their journey towards rehabilitation.

As an Interventions Facilitator, you’ll deliver accredited programmes aimed at preventing reoffending. Your work will align with national standards—ensuring treatment integrity and encouraging behavioural change in groups and one-on-one settings.


Key Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Tasks

  • Deliver structured group and individual sessions using psychological techniques, including motivational tools.
  • Assess participants, determine their readiness for treatment, and identify responsive intervention needs.
  • Maintain accurate records – session notes, post-programme reports, and debriefs.
  • Build rapport with participants to foster motivation and lasting behavioural change.
  • Continue professional development and achieve the 6 core competencies:
    • Application of core theories/open principles
    • Effective and responsive delivery
    • Group facilitation
    • Teamwork
    • Session planning
    • Ongoing learning
  • Attend supervision and complete mandatory role-specific training.
  • Promote awareness of programmes and contribute to staff training.
  • Support establishment objectives as required.

What You’ll Need

Essential Requirements

  • Experience facilitating group work, ideally with challenging populations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse groups.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly while motivating resistant individuals.
  • Organisational skills, ability to multitask under demanding conditions.
  • A reflective and teamwork-oriented mindset, with a focus on self-improvement.
  • Competency in challenging antisocial attitudes constructively.

Desirable Experience

  • Prior exposure to forensic settings or psychological interventions.
  • Experience with accredited offending behaviour programmes.
  • Knowledge of key rehabilitative theories, including the "What Works" literature.
  • Awareness of diversity, risk management, and responsivity approaches in offender rehabilitation.
  • Qualifications or training in psychology, social care, or counselling.
