Observability Engineer
Rate: £598 per week Clearance Required: SC Eligible Duration: 6 months Location: Telford ( Minimum of 2 days per month required ) IR35 Status: Inside
About the Role
As a Dynatrace/Observability Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting monitoring solutions across a range of technologies and platforms, ensuring service stability, performance insight, and proactive incident management.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate high-level monitoring and non-functional requirements (NFRs) into actionable configurations in Dynatrace
- Deliver full-stack observability solutions, including:
- Application-aware network performance monitoring (NPM)
- Synthetics
- Log analytics
- Infrastructure metrics
- Collaborate with architects and project teams to integrate monitoring into:
- Solution designs
- Test strategies
- Maintain and enhance:
- Dashboards
- Alerts
- Visualisations to support proactive service management
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and tooling exploitation to enhance operational efficiency in immature teams

Required Skills and Experience
- Strong experience configuring:
- Dynatrace alerts
- Dynatrace workflows
- Dynatrace extensions
- DQL Queries
- Deep understanding and experience in:
- Implementing and using APM (Application Performance Monitoring) tooling, with a focus on Dynatrace
- Delivering Dynatrace configuration using automation (Terraform or Monaco)
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools, specifically Dynatrace
- Strong grasp of SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) principles and methodologies
- Robust understanding of observability within a complex tech stack
- Ability to:
- Analyse and resolve complex technical problems
- Document solutions effectively
- Understanding of:
- Log monitoring principles
- Synthetic monitoring principles
- Proven ability to:
- Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Guide them through transitions involving change
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset
