Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist
Temporary Position – Fraser Health & UBC Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine
About the Role
Fraser Health, in collaboration with the University of British Columbia (UBC) Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, seeks a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist for a temporary funding position. This role involves diverse clinical responsibilities, academic contributions, and MFM on-call service for Fraser Health.
The position combines:
- Clinical care for pre-conception and antenatal patients (both inpatients and outpatients)
- Maternal medical and obstetrical complication management
- High-level fetal diagnostic procedures
- Participation in UBC’s medical education (teaching and training medical learners)
An ideal opportunity for US-trained physicians due to recent British Columbia policy changes, enabling full speciality licence eligibility upon ABMS certification. Fraser Health serves 18,000+ deliveries annually across two tertiary hospitals and a modern outpatient facility.

Qualifications
- FRCSC in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Completion of a Royal College-approved Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship
- Eligible for OR full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC)
- Eligible for or holds College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada) insurance (CMPA)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-conception and antenatal care to inpatient and outpatient populations
- Provide evidence-based care for maternal medical and obstetrical complications
- Perform fetal diagnosis and procedures (e.g., ultrasound, invasive testing)
- Demonstrate excellent communication and consultation skills
- Apply obstetrical ultrasound (sonography) expertise in clinical practice
- Collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Teach and supervise medical learners through UBC’s program while maintaining an active clinical faculty appointment

Compensation & Terms
- Payment Type: Alternative Payment Plan (service contract)
- Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2026 (or earlier)
- Appointment Duration: Until July 1, 2027
