Debenhams Group is one of the UK's most exciting retail transformation stories. Over the past few years, we've evolved from a traditional online retailer into a technology-led marketplace business, powered by a proprietary platform, a growing ecosystem of brand partners and a portfolio of iconic consumer brands. Today, Debenhams sits at the heart of the Group as Britain's Online Department Store, alongside boohoo, boohooMAN, PrettyLittleThing and Karen Millen. Together, we're building a more agile, scalable and profitable business focused on long-term growth. This is an ambitious business undergoing significant change, and Finance plays a critical role in helping shape what comes next.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Occupational Health Advisor to provide professional occupational health support across our Manchester Head Office and Sheffield Distribution Centre (with some remote working where appropriate).
Working on a flexible, ad hoc basis, you will support the business with occupational health assessments, employee wellbeing guidance, fitness for work recommendations and absence management cases. You will work closely with our People Team and managers to help support employee health, wellbeing and attendance while ensuring balanced, practical and compliant advice is provided.
This opportunity would suit an independent Occupational Health professional or consultant looking to work on a flexible basis alongside an existing portfolio of clients. Work will be offered as and when required, with fees agreed in advance. The successful individual must be able to invoice for services provided and maintain appropriate professional accreditation and insurance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
