Occupational Health Advisor – Hybrid Role (Exeter)

The Opportunity
As an Occupational Health Advisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality, forward-thinking occupational health service. Working closely with HR, managers, and healthcare professionals, you’ll provide expert advice that helps colleagues stay safe, healthy, and supported at work.
This hybrid role is based at our #Exeter office, with:
- Three days on site at Gadeon House
- Two days working from home
Starting salary: £48,000 per annum (dependent on experience). Flexible scheduling allows you to balance professional and personal priorities.
Your responsibilities include:
- Managing complex case management
- Conducting fitness for work medicals and drug & alcohol testing
- Leading wellbeing initiatives
- Supporting EDF’s An Electric Britain mission by promoting health at work for a sustainable future

Who You Are
You are a proactive, solution-focused professional with a strong ethical stance on medical confidentiality. To excel in this role, you’ll have:
✅ Qualified Occupational Health Advisor with proven experience in:
- Occupational health services (including complex case management & mental health support)
- Conducting fitness for work assessments
- Delivering evidence-based health and wellbeing programs
- Undertaking case management
✅ Basic Life Support certification
✅ Strong understanding of medical ethics, confidentiality, and accountability
✅ NEBOSH certificate, diploma, or equivalent (desirable) ✅ Experience in policy reviews and occupational health audits
✅ Registered Nurse with Occupational Health qualification (preferred)
✅ Experience with drug & alcohol testing (desirable)
What You’ll Be Doing
Your core responsibilities include:
- Assessing and advising on management and self-referrals
- Providing expert occupational health guidance on absence, rehabilitation, and fitness for work
- Managing complex and sensitive cases effectively
- Conducting fitness for work medicals, drug & alcohol testing, and wellbeing assessments
- Building collaborative relationships with HR, managers, and other stakeholders
- Contributing to occupational health strategy, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
