A Little About Our Telford Site
Our advanced manufacturing site in Telford, is one of our main processing facilities, processing up to 1.5 million birds per week. There are over 1,400 talented people employed at our Telford site, helping us to deliver high quality products to our customers and making the business a trusted leader in fresh foods.
We’ve recently invested £2.3 million in technology and equipment, making it one of the most advanced food manufacturing facilities in the UK.
About The Role

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to investing in our people and employees across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Occupational Health Technician to join our Team, based at our Telford site.
The role is office based. As an Occupational Health Technician, you’ll be working 22.5 hours per week from Monday to Wednesday 08:00-16:30 with some flexibility to cover Night shift.

Flexibility and Twilight/Night shift work is required to support the teams across site, this comes with a shift allowance (T&C's apply). You will be required to travel to other Avara locations which may involve overnight stays.
What will you be doing as a Occupational Health Technician at Avara?
As a Occupational Health Technician you’ll promote the health and wellbeing of all employees and support in delivering, analysing, and interpreting spirometry and audiometry testing.
What will your key responsibilities as a Occupational Health Technician include?
- Gain knowledge and understanding of job roles and equipment within Avara in order to implement appropriate Health Surveillance testing.
- Carry out New Starter Assessments on Day one, week 6 and week 12, and health surveillance thereafter, in line with HSE guidelines.
- Deliver, record, analyse and interpret results of health surveillance.
- Provide fitness to work advice, appropriate to the employee and business need.
- Signpost and support employees in accessing company benefits that support their health and welfare.
- Maintain up to date employee records to ensure we remain audit ready at all times.
- Support the delivery of Health and Wellness promotions.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Previous experience working in a clinical/Health and Wellbeing sector
- Bilingual or multilingual would be advantageous due to our diverse workforce
- Experience of managing or supporting a team
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- IT Literate
- Full Driving License
