Abbott Healthcare Connections is part of the Abbott Toxicology Business Unit; we deliver Occupational Health services across the UK, helping customers/clients comply with health legislation and industry standards. We support them to manage the ongoing health of their employees and engage their workforce to improve and promote health and wellbeing.
Abbott Occupational Health provides a full range of services (managing health, safety, and wellbeing) by both remote case management and onsite provision. We also provide access to our 20 medical centres across the UK.
We are recruiting for an Occupational Health Technician (OHT) who will be based on a customer’s site, near Glasgow Prestwick Airport. In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of a full range of Occupational Health (OH) duties including Health Surveillance, other medical assessments, and support of the First Aid programmes.

What You’ll Do
- Support the growth of a dynamic occupational health business ensuring you deliver exceptional clinical performance.
- Being ‘on-site’ you will develop strong working relationships with the HR and Health and Safety teams.
- Work in conjunction with our customer, at our customer site to provide health surveillance in line with HSE, and client-specific requirements.
- Conduct health surveillance / medical assessments, including the undertaking of fitness to work in safety-critical posts.
- Accurately complete administrative tasks as required, to maintain Occupational Health records and reports.
- Ensure Health Surveillance is conducted within specified timelines, including scheduling appointments and liaising with managers to support attendance.
- Ensure that knowledge is maintained of up-to-date legislation and best practice relating to Occupational Health issues.
- Ensure that any mandatory training deadlines are met; training may be OH specific or company-wide compliance training.
- Ensure AHCC uniform is worn at all times.
- To participate in the network learning opportunities and to undertake updates on clinical improvements and to actively complete performance-related clinical goals.

Required Qualifications
- Experience of working as an Occupational Health Technician
- Experience of conducting Health Surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessments, and HAVs monitoring.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Experience of collecting samples for drug and alcohol testing using chain of custody protocols is desirable.
- Be able to work closely and effectively with health and safety professionals and our occupational health partners to provide an efficient and cost-effective service for our customers.
- The ability to identify key health issues and to report where appropriate.
- Be able to prioritise workload and use experience and initiative to manage programmes, such as Health Surveillance scheduling
- Be able to travel between sites, where required
- Be competent in the use of computers including Microsoft and Excel software
- Support the on-site First Aid programme.
