Join Norfolk First Support and Help Shape the Future of Reablement
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our Norfolk First Support (NFS) team, supporting people following hospital discharge and those living in the community who require short-term reablement support to maximise their independence.
This is an exciting time to join Norfolk First Support as we continue to transform and strengthen our short-term support services. We are developing the Occupational Therapy offer within reablement and are seeking a motivated Occupational Therapist who is passionate about enabling people to achieve their goals and live independently in their own homes.
At Norfolk County Council, we work in line with the principles of the Human Learning Systems approach, recognising that meaningful outcomes are achieved through strong relationships, continuous learning and adapting services around the needs of the people we support. You will contribute to a culture of curiosity, innovation and improvement, helping us deliver the Council's priorities of supporting people to live independently, reducing inequalities and working collaboratively with communities and partners to create positive outcomes for Norfolk residents.
About the Role
As an Occupational Therapist within Norfolk First Support, you will assess people within their home environment, working collaboratively with them to identify what matters most and develop outcome-focused reablement plans.
Using your Occupational Therapy knowledge, strengths-based practice and reablement expertise, you will support people to regain skills, confidence and independence following illness, injury or a period of deterioration in their physical or mental health. Interventions will be person-centred, evidence-informed and focused on enabling people to achieve sustainable outcomes and remain living well within their communities.
You will have experience of, or a strong interest in, reablement and will contribute to the ongoing development of Occupational Therapy within the service. You will use outcome measures to monitor progress, evaluate interventions and support continuous service improvement while managing caseloads using electronic recording systems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
