Occupational Therapist (Band 5/6) – Specialist SEMH School
Location: Putney, Wandsworth, London (SW15)
Salary: £44,684 - £52,990 (NHS Band 6) – Band 5 Occupational Therapists are encouraged to apply
Contract: Temp – Perm
Working Pattern: Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 5 Days per Week

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded specialist SEMH school in Wandsworth, seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join their dedicated multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist or a Band 5 clinician ready to take the next step in their career.
The school provides specialist education for secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Their therapeutic approach places each young person at the centre of their learning, helping them develop independence, resilience and the skills needed to achieve positive outcomes both in education and beyond. As the Occupational Therapist, you will work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents and external professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions. Your role will focus on reducing barriers to learning, supporting emotional regulation and promoting engagement within the classroom and wider school environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and develop individualised intervention plans.
- Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy programmes to support pupils' functional skills, sensory needs and participation in school life.
- Contribute towards Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring therapy outcomes are effectively monitored and reviewed.
- Work closely with teaching staff, families and external agencies to provide a holistic approach to each learner's development.
- Offer advice, guidance and training to school staff to promote inclusive practice and support pupils' access to learning.
- Maintain accurate clinical records while adhering to HCPC standards, safeguarding procedures and professional best practice.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration (or eligibility to register).
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, including SEMH, Autism or behavioural difficulties.
- Experience delivering both individual and group-based occupational therapy interventions.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
