Occupational Therapist

Occupational Therapist (Fixed Term, 11 Months)

About the Mentoring Centre

NHS Golden Jubilee provides elective and emergency surgeries to patients across Scotland, aiding the reduction of national waiting times.


About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists within our innovative and forward-thinking Occupational Therapy team. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join us in delivering high quality care.

This fixed-term role (11 months) will involve working across multiple specialties including:

  • Orthopaedic pre-assessment clinic
  • Post-operative enhanced recovery programmes
  • Complex orthopaedic wards
  • Day surgery unit
  • Cardiothoracic surgery
  • Critical care

The role will operate across a 7-day, 24-hour service model, supporting late shifts to ensure equitable access to care.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and discharge planning in diverse clinical settings
  • Promote patient independence and functional recovery in alignment with NHS Golden Jubilee’s enhanced recovery pathways
  • Contribute to team-based care, fostering strong interprofessional collaboration
  • Demonstrated adaptability to a fast-paced, occasionally unpredictable clinical environment

Person Specification

Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work flexibly and efficiently under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on patient-centred care
  • Experience of critical care or post-operative care is advantageous (but not essential)
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented professional committed to continuous learning

Qualifications

  • Registered Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Qualifies to practice in the UK (or eligibility for registration)
