Occupational Therapist Opportunity – Intermediate Care Team A motivating and rewarding role with the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Occupational Therapist (OT) with a keen interest in intermediate care to join our dedicated therapy team. This is a prime opportunity to grow your clinical expertise in a supportive, collaborative environment while making a tangible difference in patients’ lives.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), your role will encompass holistic assessment and treatment interventions, addressing an individual’s physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs. You will contribute to rehabilitation planning and facilitate safe discharges, whether to home or alternative care settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive OT assessments across physical, cognitive, and psychosocial domains, applying a person-centred approach.
- Deliver targeted rehabilitation interventions in line with individualised care plans.
- Collaborate closely with an MDT (e.g., nursing, physiotherapy, social work) to optimise patient recovery and progress.
- Contribute to service improvements, including participation in performance reviews and feedback loops.
- Engage with the well-structured preceptorship program to develop professionally, with ongoing support from senior therapists.
- Work within the intermediate care unit, balancing dynamic caseloads with compassionate patient-centred care.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
