Junior Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Part-Time School Role
Cavendish View Independent Special School
About the Organisation
Our mission is to deliver a specialised service through a holistic approach, integrating best practice in education, therapy, and care.
Cavendish View is an independent special school for pupils aged 5–11 with diverse needs, including:
- Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
- ADHD & attention-related challenges
- Physical developmental delay
- Sensory processing differences
- Complex needs (e.g., epilepsy)
- Additional learning needs (ALN)
We foster a learning-focused culture, prioritising independence, success, and collaboration between pupils, parents, families, and professionals.
About the Role
Contract Type
- Term-time only
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Therapeutic Delivery
- Provide evidence-based Occupational Therapy (OT) interventions aligned with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)
- Conduct assessments and develop personalised care plans to promote:
- Functional independence
- Fine/ gross motor skills
- Sensory integration
- Implement and monitor individualised therapy programmes, tailored to the school’s inclusive ethos
- Employ play-based, functional, and independence-focused interventions to support curriculum access
- Lead postural management initiatives, including:
- Seating assessments
- Positioning strategies
- Wheelchair & mobility equipment recommendations

Collaborative Practices
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team (teachers, therapeutic staff, medical professionals)
- Communicate effectively with pupils, families, and external agencies (e.g., CAMHS, paediatricians)
- Recommend and justify equipment/ resource purchases within budget constraints
- Deliver staff training and guidance to ensure consistent therapeutic delivery
Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, confidential records (data protection compliant)
- Ensure adherence to school/organisational policies and health & safety protocols
- Report incidents in line with safeguarding procedures
Professional Growth
- Engage in ongoing CPD, sharing expertise with peers
- Act as a role model for the team, advocating for evidence-based practice
