We are seeking 4 motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join Walsall Adult Social Care as part of our evolving Occupational Therapy Service.

Grade: G9 £42,839–£46,142 per annum

Occupational Therapy Roles in Walsall
1. Localities Team – Optimal Handed Care Project
As part of the Localities Teams, you will manage a varied caseload across Walsall, supporting adults within the community.
Key Initiatives:
- Optimal Handed Care Project: A key service improvement initiative to promote independence while ensuring safe and proportionate care.

Responsibilities Include:
- Completing strengths-based occupational therapy assessments in homes and community settings
- Undertaking detailed moving and handling assessments
- Reviewing existing double-handed care packages to identify opportunities for safe, proportionate single-handed care
- Recommending equipment, techniques, and adaptations to support independence
- Working collaboratively with care providers, families, and professionals
- Supporting safe, dignified, person-centred care delivery
This role is ideal for Occupational Therapists with a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualifying experience, especially in moving and handling, particularly with double-handed care reviews, single-handed care, and risk enablement.
2. Enablement Team – Occupational Therapist Role
The Community Enablement Team supports individuals with:
- Learning disabilities
- Mental health challenges impacting daily life
- Neurodiverse needs
- Young people transitioning into adulthood
The team empowers individuals to develop practical life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and managing home environments.
Ideal for Applicants with:
- Minimum 2 years’ post-qualifying experience working with adults in:
- Learning disability care
- Mental health settings
- Transitions into adulthood
3. Prevention & Early Intervention Team – Occupational Therapist Role
This role supports adults with physical disabilities to promote independence, prevent falls, and avoid formal care arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a varied and complex caseload delivering high-quality assessments
- Providing minor/major adaptations and equipment, including Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs)
- Performing manual handling assessments
- Addressing housing-related assessments (e.g., rehousing reports)
- Collaborating with colleagues and partners to maximise independence and wellbeing
Requirements:
- 2+ years post-qualifying experience
- Proactive, motivated, team player
- Strong understanding of safeguarding & The Care Act

Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a degree in Occupational Therapy
- Be registered with the HCPC
- Have knowledge of Care Act 2014 & Mental Capacity Act 2005 legislation
- Be committed to strengths-based and outcome-focused practice
- Possess minimum 2 years’ post-qualifying experience

- 2 within the Enablement Team
- 1 within the Prevention and Early Intervention Team
