Occupational Therapist

Band 6 Occupational Therapist – Community Neurology Rehabilitation Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Community Neurology Rehabilitation Team. This role offers a unique chance to develop specialised skills within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, focusing on helping adults living with neurological conditions improve their quality of life in community settings.


About the Role

Our Community Neurology Rehabilitation Team provides specialist assessment and intervention for adults managing complex neurological conditions, including:

  • Stroke
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Acquired brain injury
  • Other neurological presentations

The role involves working in home and community settings, delivering person-centred, goal-oriented rehabilitation aligned with individual needs. You’ll collaborate closely with a dynamic team of health professionals, including physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses, consultants, dietitians, therapy assistant practitioners, and rehabilitation assistants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and evaluations for adults in community settings.
  • Adopt a client-centred approach to help individuals identify and achieve realistic personal goals.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary care plans and collaborative assessments.
  • Support self-management strategies, carer education, and equipment provision.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, students, therapy assistant practitioners, and rehabilitation assistants.
  • Lead service development and quality improvement initiatives within the team.

Requirements

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist with a degree-level qualification and HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with neurological rehabilitation, particularly within community settings.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with service users, families, carers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage workloads independently, and work effectively in a team.
  • Requires independent mobility and access to a vehicle for work (adjustments considered under the Equality Act 2010 if needed).
