Occupational Therapist

Senior Occupational Therapist - Band 6

About the Role

The Intensive Support Team is a multi-disciplinary team leading Community Learning Disability service delivery. This progressive and dynamic service provides essential support to ensure individuals with a learning disability—whose behaviours may challenge—can thrive in the community and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.

Occupational Therapists (OTs) play a central role in this team. They conduct comprehensive specialist assessments for clients with complex needs, including:

  • Behaviours that challenge
  • Sensory integration difficulties
  • Engagement issues

Using clinical reasoning, OTs interpret diverse information (clinical and non-clinical) to develop accurate diagnoses and tailored treatment plans. Clients may be supported in their own homes, the community, hospitals, clinics, or outpatient settings.

The Senior OT will:

  • Conduct specialist assessments for complex presentations, using clinical reasoning to diagnose and design specific treatments.
  • Provide expert advice to colleagues, carers, or carry out single comprehensive holistic assessments for clients.
  • Design and deliver individual treatment programmes based on:
    • Specialist OT knowledge
    • Evidence-based practice
    • National and local guidelines
    • Techniques: 1:1 interventions, group activities, carer education, and patient training
  • Utilise advanced assessment and treatment skills, including:
    • Strategic communication techniques
    • Sensory integration approaches
    • Therapeutic use of self
    • Safely managing moving and handling equipment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
