Occupational Therapy Assistant
Department: Allied Health Professionals and Psychology
Location: Stockton Hall
Compensation: £26,300 / year (37.5 hours/week, full-time)
About the Role
Priory Hospital Stockton Hall is recruiting a highly motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join a team of forensic occupational therapists and therapy assistants.
This role will see the assistant working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, aiding qualified occupational therapists in delivering specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to detained patients within our mental illness service line.
Priory Stockton Hall is a medium secure hospital serving the local provider collaborative and multiple national collaboratives, based near York. It has a strong reputation for successful patient pathways along with a compassionate team approach.
Key Responsibilities
The Occupational Therapy Assistant will:
- Support the development and implementation of therapy and care plans to improve the mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being of assigned clients.
- Behave as a positive role model, promoting the value of occupation and upholding Priory Group values.
- Work within individual and group sessions, helping patients build independence, confidence, and essential life skills.
- Record and report patient engagement in sessions, promptly referring unusual occurrences to senior staff and updating clinical records.
- Assist in the creation of activity schedules and service line timetables.
- Support with clinical assessments and propose new ideas for enhancing patient experience.
- Contribute to new group-wide programs, ensuring consistent service delivery.
- Ensure services provided are cost-effective and support the site’s overall objectives.
- Work collaboratively to increase patient purpose and engagement in therapeutic interventions.
- Participate in regular supervision and professional development opportunities.

Person Specification
Ideal candidates should:
- Have natural empathy and resilience, capable of supporting others during both highs and lows.
- Be proactive, enthusiastic, and encouraging, fostering positive interactions with staff and patients.
- Possess health and social care experience, though this is not mandatory for an entry-level position.
- Practise compassionate care, respecting patients’ situations and upholding privacy and well-being.
