The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.
Job Overview

Work as a Team Lead in occupational therapy practice and provide clinical and professional leadership to occupational therapy staff working with service users who require long term condition management as part of the OT community neurological service provision. In addition to holding a varied and specialist caseload of patients, and overseeing day to day leadership of the team, the post will be expected to lead in the modernisation of occupational therapy practice for long term conditions management. The post holder will influence the planning, development, evaluation and efficiency of long-term condition management occupational therapy service. They will also be directly responsible for the development of occupational therapy practice in the context of multidisciplinary patient pathways and for facilitating an appropriate interface with OT colleagues working in in-patient service, community, reablement and social services.
Main duties of the job
Applicants will be expected to have strong clinical and decision-making skills in order to demonstrate a depth and breadth of ability in working with people with neurological conditions in their own homes
You will need excellent communication skills, have initiative and a flexible approach to work. You must be confident and effective in the delivery of OT interventions. This will ensure and evidence that these interventions meet the person’s needs and organisation’s expectations of safe, compassionate and high-quality care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Member of HCPC
- At least 1 module (CQFW level 7 at 20/30credits each) or post-registration equivalent linked to practice.
- Accredited practice placement educator
- Certificate in Leadership and/or Management.
Desirable criteria
- Member of relevant COT Specialist Section.
Experience

- Extensive experience in working within practice setting.
- Significant experience working at Senior OT level
- Involvement in innovative working practices
- Experience of leading a change in OT clinical practice

- Ability to assess, plan and implement highly specialised treatment and advice in specialist area related to post.
- Negotiation and problem-solving skills utilised within OT and wider MDT teams
- Ability to use highly specialist clinical skills to interpret complex assessments for second opinion
