Freight Forwarder – Ocean Export
Ipswich, Monday to Friday 9.00am-5.00pm
Main Purpose of the Role
DSV are looking to recruit a Freight Forwarder in Ipswich to provide an efficient and proactive service to all key account customers, overseas and related service providers.
You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of export operations, ensuring customer expectations are met and exceeded. The role involves coordinating export activities, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, and proactively identifying opportunities to drive continuous process improvements and operational efficiency.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Manage the end-to-end ocean export booking process, ensuring all shipments are handled accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed procedures, KPIs, and customer requirements.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by maintaining regular communication with customers and stakeholders, ensuring expectations are met and service levels are consistently achieved.
- Prepare, review, and issue export documentation in compliance with customer instructions, customs requirements, and industry regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitor shipment profitability, and investigate any financial discrepancies or loss-making shipments.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth shipment execution and resolution of operational issues.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, optimise workflows, and effectively prioritise workloads to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

About You
- Proven experience within the freight forwarding industry, with a strong understanding of ocean export operations, documentation, and customs procedures.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Commercially aware with good financial understanding and the ability to identify and resolve operational or profitability issues.
- A proactive, flexible, and solution-focused team player who is committed to delivering high standards of service.
- Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
