About Modo Energy
The energy transition is the biggest infrastructure buildout in human history. Modo Energy is the data platform at the centre of it.
We build the benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools that the world's most serious energy investors, developers, and operators depend on to make decisions. If a battery gets financed, built, or traded anywhere in the world, there's a good chance Modo data was in the room.
Founded in 2019, we're 80+ people across London, New York, Sydney, and Madrid; $30M Series B, AI-native, and moving fast.
This is a rare chance to join a category-defining company at the moment it's scaling globally.
The Role
You'll own the complete operational infrastructure of Modo's London office and finance/HR functions. We're scaling fast, and that means we need someone who can run everything - handling the things that enable everyone else to do their best work, making judgment calls, building systems, and spotting what's broken before we have to ask.
You'll run finance operations, HR operations, office operations, and internal systems end-to-end. You'll triage requests, execute against processes, but also build those processes. You'll get comfortable with the unglamorous work: chasing receipts, drafting invoices, handling visa applications with lawyers, fixing systems when they break, onboarding people - and you'll also make strategic decisions about what tools we keep, when we cut seats, and how we organize our internal information.
This is autonomous work. You report to the Head of Operations but you're not supervised day-to-day. You decide what good looks like, you execute it, and you own the outcome. You're expected to spot problems before they become crises and fix them.
What You'll Do
Finance Operations
- Own the receipt-and-invoice pipeline: collect from team members, upload to Ramp, reconcile with the finance team weekly
- Draft invoices for the finance team to review and send (vendor invoices, contractor invoices, anything that needs to go out)
HR / IT
- Assist with onboarding: coordinate start dates, IT access, equipment setup, paperwork.
- Handle IT access requests and manage seat allocation.
- Maintain our People processes as they evolve - document what we do and why.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Office Ops
- Facilities: keep the office clean, stocked, functional. Know the Wi-Fi, know who fixes it when it breaks.
- Manage the cleaning team and contractors - contracts, scheduling, quality, complaints.
- Guest coordination: arrivals, meetings, hospitality, departures. Make the office feel like a good place to visit.
- On-site interview logistics: scheduling rooms, setting up, hospitality, running candidates through.
Business Ops
- Own Slack workspace health
- Maintain Google Drive structure
- Keep Notion updated
What We're Looking For
The Essentials
- Some experience doing this work - you've worked in operations, finance admin, HR admin, office management, or a similar role before. You know what it's like to own something, complete it, and make it work.
- You move fast and get things done - you don't wait to be told twice, and you don't let things fall through the cracks. Receipts get chased. Invoices get drafted. Onboarding happens on time. You see a gap and you fill it.
- You're comfortable with the unglamorous work - chasing vendors, sitting on hold with lawyers, fixing systems, drafting invoices, handling payroll questions. None of it is beneath you. In fact, you prefer getting things done to talking about getting things done.
- You communicate clearly and concisely - in writing and in person. You can distill a messy problem into a clear update. You're direct and straightforward, and you expect the same back.
- You maintain systems so others don't have to.
- You think structurally and close loops without being chased, operate with high agency.
- You can pick up tools quickly — you're comfortable learning Ramp, Rippling (our HRIS, launching soon), Google Workspace, Slack, Notion. You actively seek out tools, including AI, that make you faster.
Nice To Have
- Experience at a startup or high-growth company - you've seen how ops breaks and how it gets fixed under pressure
- Familiarity with tools like Ramp, Google Workspace, Notion, or HRIS platforms
- You use AI to be more efficient - you've figured out how to make Claude or similar tools work for you
