Offshore Medic

Offshore Medic (2-Year Fixed-Term decommissioning Contract)

Location: North Sea

Rotation: 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off

Salary: up to £65,000.00 per annum

About The Role

We are recruiting for Offshore Medics to support operations across a range of UKCS assets on a fixed-term contract for 2 years. This asset is currently in the decommissioning phase and experience within this environment is preferable.

Our Offshore Medics support North Sea operations by providing 24‑hour medical cover, emergency response, and occupational health support while working closely with onshore medical teams and client personnel. Main objectives

To act as the focal point for health, occupational health and occupational hygiene matters. To be capable of exercising appropriate and competent medical skills in the event of an injury or acute illness, providing advice, and consulting with onshore management, as required. To act as an ambassador and excel. To always ensure excellent standards.

Duties

Provide 24 hour on-site medical care to all installation personnel. Ensure compliance with clients' current Health, Safety and Environmental practices and procedures. Maintain accurate patient medical records and ill health/incident reporting in accordance with MCL Medics Medical Standard Operation Procedures. Diagnose and Initiate treatment of illness on-site as per MCL Medics Medical Standard Operation Procedures, including initiation of prescription medications, (in consultation with the Topside Doctor); this may include acute medical and surgical conditions requiring immediate skilled treatment. Provide initial emergency response, resuscitation, and stabilisation of critically ill or injured (trauma) patients, utilising ALS/ATLS emergency medical protocols. Communicate and provide details to the Topside Doctor for the management and treatment of medevac cases providing appropriate referral documentation for injured or ill personnel requiring medevac and liaise with logistics personnel to arrange safe transfer onshore to receive further medical treatment. Order, maintain and control adequate stocks of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals in the sickbay, as per MSOPs, the Company’s drug formulary and/or as directed by the Medical Advisor. Operate all medical emergency equipment listed within MERP and MSOPs; Conduct a regular functional check and keep a record of weekly checks. Ensure appropriate distribution and storage of medical supplies around the installation and sickbay. Dispose of clinical waste correctly and in line with clinical waste protocols. Undertake housekeeping activities including but not limited to re-stocking and cleaning of equipment, e.g. monthly defrosting of drug fridge. Assist in the planning of emergency procedures to ensure an appropriate first-line medical response to any emergency situations. Actively participate in the asset’s emergency response for major medical incidents, including participation in medical exercises and the refresher training of first-aid teams and stretcher parties on the client asset’s Emergency Response Plan. Conduct non certificated first aid training with the First Aiders, and casualty handling with Stretcher Teams using the MCL Medics first-aid training template. Complete periodic potable water testing and take routine water samples for chemical and microbiological analyses, as per the company’s procedures and maintain accurate records. Complete regular hygiene inspections of the galley and accommodation using the client hygiene template, in accordance with company procedures, maintain records on site and regularly review catering company food safety management systems. Maintain all first aid and eye wash stations throughout the installation/site and maintain accurate records. Complete regular inspection and maintenance tasks on the condition of medical emergency equipment, as stipulated in client’s procedures and the planned maintenance system requirements. Monitor progress and implementation of occupational health corrective actions arising from site related incidents. Maintain complete and accurate written and computerised records, reports, statistics, and referral letters relating to all clinical work and ensure the security and confidentiality of information under the requirements of the Data Protection Act (2000) and Access to Medical Records Act (1990). Contribute to site ‘Toolbox Talks’ and safety behavioural initiatives. Adhere to the client’s health promotion goals, for example, The Healthy Working Lives award program, and encourage healthy living by providing regular education on lifestyle issues. Organise and participate in health surveillance programs for employees who may be at risk, in line with the client’s occupational health policies and procedures and maintain appropriate records. Provide and participate in education and training programs relevant to occupational health and maintain appropriate records.

Registered Nurse with at least 3-years post-graduation experience; HCPC Registered Paramedic; Combat Medical Technician Class 1 (CMT1); Royal Navy Assistant; Royal Air Force medics Assistant; Royal Fleet Auxiliary Services Medical Technician. HSE approved Offshore Medics certificate. OEUK medical certificate BOSIET/FOET (c/w-EBS) certificate MIST (Minimum Industry Safety Training) certificate
