Offshore Service Technician
Service & Maintenance Technician – Offshore Windfarm (Global Offshore)
Ready to contribute to renewable energy while servicing mechanical and electrical systems? Vestas is seeking skilled experts to support our offshore windfarm operations in the North-East of Scotland.
Join our Service UK Team on our crew transfer vessel (SOV) in Global Offshore’s Seagreen Blue Shift, where you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our windfarms remain operational through troubleshooting, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
Reporting directly to the SOV Shift Manager, this role requires a combination of technical expertise, safety awareness, and collaborative teamwork. You’ll work in a fast-paced offshore environment, maintaining electrical and mechanical systems while adhering to Vestas’ Quality, HSE, and Operational Procedures.
About the Role
Location: North-East of Scotland (operating from an SOV – Self-Propelled Offshore Vessel)
Schedule: 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rota
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance: Adhere to Vestas’ Health & Safety, Quality, and Operational Procedures
- Maintenance & Service:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults offshore
- Perform maintenance and service activities on windfarm systems
- Operational Management:
- Monitor operations daily and facilitate remote fault finding via online systems
- Work within Vestas ERP System (SAP)
- ** Documentation & Reporting:**
- Raise work orders, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), quality cases, and learning opportunities
- Log time, materials, consumables, and quality findings
A hands-on, problem-solving role requiring technical precision, safety focus, and team collaboration.
*Responsibilities & Key Activities
- Fault Finding & Diagnosis: Systematically identify and resolve issues in both OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and field-installed systems
- Remote Support Coordination: Utilise online monitoring systems for proactive remote fault detection
- Procedure Adherence: Ensure all activities comply with Vestas internal policies and industry standards
- Work Order Management: Utilise SAP and Vestas’ ERP system for planning and task completion

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional experience servicing or maintaining electrical or mechanical systems (preferably in an offshore environment)
- Technical qualifications in one of the following:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Marine Engineering
- C&G technical or equivalent
- Qualifications must meet NVQ L4, HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent standards
- Full Driver’s License (validated for work purposes)
- Good command of spoken and written English (essential for offshore teamwork)
