The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.

Job Overview

Are you a Healthcare Support Worker interested in joining a highly motivated and award-winning team? Working within the general hospitals to support patients over the age of 65 with a mental health diagnosis.

Being in a hospital can be a frightening time for most of us, which can be exacerbated by a diagnosis such as dementia.

Your role would be to provide person-centred care and meaningful activities to meet the needs of the patient.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to July 23rd 2027 due to maternity cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Health Care Support Worker to work within the Responsive Hospital Support Team, as part of the Older Adult Psychiatric Liaison service. The service is currently based between St Woolos Hospital and Nevill Hall Hospital site/s.

The post will involve working with patients who have both functional and organic mental health diagnosis, in a general hospital setting, under the direction of Band 6 practitioners.

The service works in every general care facility within the ABUHB trust, and applicants will be required to move between sites as part of their role.

The hours of work 8:00 - 16:00 / 12:00 - 20:00 - Monday to Friday. 9:00 - 17:00 - Saturday to Sunday

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
