We are currently seeking an O&M Project Engineer to join our Topside Division.
Location
Edinburgh, United Kingdom (Hybrid). Travel to UK onshore sites required.
Core Purpose
Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) projects and annual maintenance programmes across OEG’s portfolio, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with technical, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage engineering and project activities associated with maintenance campaigns, modifications, and asset improvement initiatives, working collaboratively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers to achieve operational objectives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of asset reliability and operational performance by providing technical support, monitoring project progress, and identifying opportunities to optimise maintenance strategies and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Operations and Maintenance
- Plan, coordinate, and, where required, lead the delivery of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities.
- Manage and support maintenance campaigns involving high and low voltage electrical assets, including switchgear (AIS, GIS and HIS), transformers, electrical testing, equipment replacement, oil sampling, commissioning support, and associated mechanical works.
- Provide technical support during planned and reactive maintenance activities, fault investigations, commissioning, and asset improvement projects.
- Operate as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) under Company and client Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules, providing Safety from the System and supporting the safe execution of work.
- Coordinate site resources, contractors, equipment, and materials to ensure maintenance activities are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Participate in the Company’s standby rota to support fault response and emergency call-out activities as required.

Project Delivery and Planning
- Develop work scores, maintenance plans, project documentation, risk assessments, and method statements to support the successful delivery of O&M projects.
- Monitor project progress, manage schedules, identify risks, and implement solutions to ensure project milestones and client deliverables are achieved.
- Support commissioning, energisation, and asset handover activities for new installations and maintenance projects.
Client and Commercial
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.
- Monitor and report against project and maintenance KPIs, providing regular technical and progress updates to clients and management.
- Capture and communicate project information, resource utilisation, and variations to support accurate invoicing and identify opportunities for additional works or contract growth.
Leadership and Continuous Improvement
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and on-the-job training to engineers and technicians, supporting competency development across the O&M team.
- Support maintenance and resource planning to ensure effective deployment of personnel and equipment.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance maintenance practices, asset reliability, safety performance, and operational efficiency.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience operating as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) on high voltage networks, preferably under ENA Model Distribution Safety Rules (MDSR) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in the operation, maintenance, and management of HV and LV electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and associated plant.
- Experience planning, coordinating, and delivering maintenance activities, engineering projects, or asset improvement programmes within an operational environment.
- Previous experience delivering Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects within the renewables, utilities, power transmission, or offshore energy sectors.
- Knowledge of electrical fault response, fault investigation, and repair management.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety legislation, safe systems of work, and permit-to-work processes.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Good understanding of client/contractor relationships, contract management, and commercial awareness.
- Experience supporting commissioning, energisation, or asset handover activities.
- Previous experience working in an offshore environment.
- Knowledge of condition monitoring, asset management principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM PMQ) or equivalent experience.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to UK onshore sites as required.
