Role Description
The On Shift Deputy Manager is a full, on-site role based in Stoke-On-Trent. This role supports the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care and support to children and young people. Responsibilities include:

- Leading and supervising staff on shift
- Coordinating daily activities and routines
- Promoting a nurturing, structured environment
- Assisting with care planning, risk assessments, record-keeping, and incident management
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and organisational policies
- Working collaboratively with young people, colleagues, and external professionals to promote positive engagement, independence, and wellbeing

Qualifications
- Experience in residential care for children and young people, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and risk management.
- Skills in team leadership, staff supervision, and shift coordination, including the ability to delegate tasks and support colleagues effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting, professional relationships with young people, families, and external partners.
- Competence in record-keeping, report writing, and basic IT use to maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory standards.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, use sound judgment, and respond to challenging behavior in a trauma-informed and respectful manner.
- Relevant qualification in social care, youth work, or a related field (e.g., Level 3 or above in Children and Young People, Health and Social Care) or willingness to work towards such qualifications.
- Knowledge of Ofsted requirements, care standards, and person-centered practice that promotes independence and positive outcomes.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings and weekends, and commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
